Hey BMMS families and students! Ready to let your creativity shine? The Reflections Art ProgramĀ is officially back—and this year’s theme is ā€œI Belongā€. šŸ’™

We get a lot of questions (and some confused faces šŸ˜…), so here’s everything you need to know—without the boring speech.

ree

šŸ“…What’s the deadline again?

October 10, 2025

Write it down, set a reminder. OurĀ online submission formĀ is open now.

šŸ¤”Who can participate?

Every single student at BMMS.

Yep, everyone. You do not have to be a PTSA member to enter. (Though we’d love to have you on our team—free hugs and good vibes included!)

šŸ“What do I have to turn in?

When you're ready to submit, you'll need:

  • Your artwork

  • A title (make it cool or deep—we love both!)

  • An artist statement (just tell us how your work connects to the theme)

IMPORTANT: Keep your original artwork after submitting. If your piece advances to the next level, we’ll need it. So don’t let your dog eat it, please.

šŸŽØWhat kind of art is accepted?

You’ve got options! Choose from these six categories:

  • Dance Choreography

  • Literature

  • Photography

  • Film Production

  • Music Composition

  • Visual Arts

Got an idea? Go for it. Don’t overthink it—just express yourself.

šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļøSo... who are the judges?

Meet our amazing judge panel. Our local judges know and love the arts and have generously volunteered their time and expertise to support our students.

🤫Is it judged fairly?

Yes! It’s blind judging—which means no names, no grades, no identifying info. Just your art and your words.

That way, your work is judged for what it is: original, thoughtful, and 100% YOU.

🧠What do the judges look for?

Glad you asked! Here's what matters:

  • How well you connect to the theme (Interpretation)

  • Your artistic vision and how you bring it to life

  • Originality and creativity

Basically: be real, be expressive, be you.

šŸ§Can I work with a friend or make it a group thing?

Sorry—individual submissions only.

One person = one entry = one spotlight.

āœļøCan I submit more than one?

Absolutely! Want to write a poem and choreograph a dance and snap a killer photo? Go for it!

Just remember: each piece needs its own entry form, title, and artist statement. No copy-paste jobs, please.

🧭 How many entries get to move on to the next level?

Each school (like BMMS) can sendĀ up to 24 entries totalĀ to theĀ Palomar Council PTA, with aĀ maximum of 12 entries per categoryĀ (like Literature or Visual Arts).

These entries are chosen from those that received theĀ Award of ExcellenceĀ at the school level.

šŸš€Ā What happens after council?

Great question! Here’s how it works:

  • BMMS → Top entries go toĀ Palomar Council PTA

  • Council → Selected entries go toĀ Ninth District PTA

  • District → Winners move on toĀ California State PTA

It’s like climbing a creative staircase—each level is one step closer to state and national recognition!
